Director Sadhu Kokila's claim of writing the story and screenplay for his new directorial venture "Mr. Theertha" has to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Sadhu has exhibited a rare courage, which is not uncommon in the Kannada film industry, to take the credit for writing the screenplay and story of "Mr. Theertha", which is actually a remake of Mohan Lal-starrer 1995 Malayalam hit "Sphatikam".

Nope, this Mr. Theertha is not the holy water you get in temples. Instead, this Mr.Teertha is akin to the well known Kannada slang for alcohol, as it churns out a heady concoction of all the elements of a typical masala movie. Cocktails, if taken too much, may not be well for the health; but you wouldn’t mind getting high in a while, do you?

Languishing in the cans for a long time ‘Theertha’ is a terrific film for the contents, acting by lead actors especially – versatile Ananthnag and stylish Sudeep. There is a power and strong dose of sentiment that is also laced with a message on child-parent care. There are a few lilting tunes and cinematography is attractive what makes the film worth watching.
